Bikram Yoga Truro - There are two major categories that all breathing exercises fall into. One category consists of breathing exercises that energize and invigorate whereas others are classed as calming and relaxing. So as to calm the mind calming exercises are carried out. Energizing exercises are intended to raise the body's metabolism. Typically, calming exercises bring air in little by little and the abdomen expands together with the diaphragm and the lungs. As more air is exhaled than was breathed in, the breathing is slowed. Conversely, energizing breathing exercises comprise the rapid expansion of the lungs and the abdomen is pulled inward and breaths are held before being rapidly exhaled.
Yoga and various meditation practices use calming breathing exercises. This particular form of breathing can be useful when attempting to insulate from crisis, control stress or reduce anxiety. Calm breathing can be done in basically whatever environment without drawing any attention. A typical relaxation breathing exercise is breathing slowly and deeply through the nose followed by long exhalation through the mouth. Often, this type of breathing exercise is most useful if performed with closed eyes in a peaceful setting. Air is pulled into the abdomen. The abdomen then expands similar to a balloon and is exhaled to a count of ten. The body is triggered to relax itself when breathing into the abdomen occurs.
Added breathing exercises which are normally performed for relaxation are rapid belly breaths. In this exercise, the breather pulls air into the abdomen and feels it expand with their hands. The air is then breathed out in a few short bursts as opposed to one long stream.
When doing calming breathing exercises, the mind needs to be still. It is effective if people could make their body go limp like a wet noodle, as though it were melting into a giant puddle. For optimum results, no thoughts should interrupt in these exercises. It is similar to being in a meditative and relaxed condition. Relaxing breathing exercises can be utilized as an effectual way of stopping and interrupting negative thoughts.
An exercise which could be utilized so as to quickly invigorate the body is a series of 3 or 4 short breaths followed by one long breath. So as to maximize the benefit of this particular exercise, both the short breaths and the long breaths should be deep. This particular exercise could help perk people up in the mid afternoon when they tend to lose their energy.
A way so as to enhance overall metabolism and lung capacity is to incorporate arm movement into the breathing exercises. It could be invigorating to hold objects or do figure eights into the air or wave the arms while taking regular breaths. A similar effect could be attained by breathing air into the lung while pulling the abdomen inward.
It is not rare for some people to feel dizzy or light-headed while doing breathing exercises. If that happens, the exercises need to be stopped immediately.
